C/A spice: Medium
In the teaser, Cordy, Wes, and Gunn, are bickering over the weapon's cabinet. Cordy insists on reorganizing it because...
Cordy: Angel keeps complaining that the weapons cabinet is all "different".
Fred wonders when Angel will be back and what's the heck is up with the whole B/A thing. Cordy gives her an abridged rendition of the B/A saga. This is funny as -- the thing Angel's been to and back from because of the girl with the goofy name --
Cordy: Lemme break this down for you, Fred. (imitating Buffy incredibly
melodramatically) Oh, Angel. I know that I am a Slayer, and you are a
Vampire, and it is impossible (her voice breaks and lip quivers here
*just* like you-know-who) for us to be together, but --
Wes: (chiming in) But my gypsy curse, and our hot little loins, sometimes prevent us from seeing the truth. Oh Buffy --
Cordy: Yes, Angel?
Wes: (pulling a frown) I love you so much I almost forgot to brood!
Gunn laughs. Fred just looks confused.
Cordy: And just because I sent you to hell that one time doesn't mean we can't be friends.
Wes grabs Cor around the waist, getting into it.
Wes: Or possibly more?
Cordy: (gasps) Gasp! No! We mustn't! You'll lose your soul!
Wes: To hell with my soul! (beat, realizing) Again! Kiss me!
Cordy: (passionately) Bite me!
Wes and Cor screenplay a deep bitefest.
Angel: (O.S.) How 'bout you both bite me?
Priceless! As Cordy and Wes, mortified, shove each other away, I -- and probably millions across the nation -- are ROLLING on the floor right now.
This continues from the last scene. Gunn asks how it went.
Angel: I think those two pretty much summed it up. To be honest, I
don't really wanna talk about it.
Cor looks surprised, hurt.
Cordy: But Angel, we're your friends. And it's not healthy to repress stuff like this. You have to share your pain, express those feelings of grief and longing, cause if you don't... the curiosity's gonna kill me.
Angel: (completely deadpan) Oh no. Wouldn't want that.
Fred: (raising her hand) Personally, I don't care at all what happened.
Cordy puts on a winning smile, says through it:
Cordy: Shut up, Fred.
Angel: (somberly) Actually... you know what I need right now? (beat) Ice cream. (to Fred) You wanna get some ice cream?
Fred: I like ice cream.
Angel smiles. Walks out with Fred.
Cordy: Now we'll never, ever know.
Angel: (O.S.) That's right.
Adorable. The whole Angel/Fred-ness is cute, too. I like it. I don't feel at all threatened, because the lighthearted cuteness is as far as it goes. Angel and Cordelia go deeper.
Fred's parents are in Wes's office with Wes, Cordy, and Gunn. Angel walks in holding a trophy head from a demon killing...
Angel: Wait'll you guys hear what happened at Haagen Dazs! Ordinarily
these things don't put up much of a fight, but this one? Hoo! I think
I'm gonna have it --
Enters office. Sees Fred's parents. Stops dead in his tracks.
Angel: -- mounted. (beat) Hello.
Cordy: Angel, you're -- alone. And you brought... a prop! From your movie! (to parents) This is Angel, he makes... monster movies and Angel, these are Fred's very normal parents.
Cordy to the rescue.
Fred's vamoosed. The gang is contemplating where she could be and what in the world would make her take off.
Cordy: Sneaking off? Right. Fred can barely tie her shoes without
Mr. Oh-You're-My-Big-Fat-Hero around.
Angel: You think I'm fat?
Hehe. Angel's a little self-conscious about what Cordy thinks of him, huh? Wait, later on this comes up again in a little scene that was cut out.
Cordy: "Capable"? We're still talking about Fred, right? The girl who
couldn't even tie her shoes without --
Angel: I'm not fat, all right?
After Fred's mom, Trish, smushes the bug demon with the bus, the gang + Fred's folks are at the hotel. Nurse Cordy treats Fred's injuries and calls for her next patient.
Cordy: Next up -- multiple stab wounds. (calling over) Angel!
Angel: Ooh! My turn! Yay!
He darts to the couch. Cor rolls her eyes affectionately. (Yes, affectionately, directions in the script.)
Cordy: What a dork.
I've really got to find some synonyms for cute. I use that too much for Cordy/Angel. Heck, everything is cute to me! This scene is so endearing. How cute! How endearing!
I thought what Fred said about the gang was really significant.
Fred: (proud) It's what he does. Angel's a Champion. And Wesley's the Brains of the operation, and Gunn is the Muscle, Cordy's the Heart...
Cordy's the Heart. If you think of Angel as the Soul. It's Heart and Soul :-)
Fred has left and the gang is reminiscing.
Angel: I'm gonna miss her. She was just this nice, quiet kind
of crazy. (beat) I found it soothing.
Cordy: And what, I'm not soothing? I can be soothing. I could soothe your ass off, pal.
I'm not even going to say anything... :-D
The giant bug and army come after our fang gang at the hotel. Fred figures out something and bursts in just in time to do the trick of making them leave. What I remember is Angel down on the floor. Cordy helps him up and they're holding each other for a minute there. It's very sweet if you saw what I'm talking about.
